Completed in 2021, the BC Passive House Factory Addition is a 1,938 m² expansion to the original 2015 facility, the first Passive House prefabrication factory in North America. The addition significantly increases the production capacity of the operation, enabling greater output of prefabricated Passive House building systems, while also providing dedicated administrative office space to support the company's growing team.
True to the spirit of the original facility, the addition was built using the same innovative principles it promotes. The wall assemblies for the new structure were prefabricated on-site within the existing BC Passive House factory, serving as a live demonstration of the efficiency and precision that defines the Passive House approach. The expansion reinforces BC Passive House's commitment to advancing high-performance construction across North America, utilizing advanced building assemblies, materials, and heat recovery systems to reduce a building's energy consumption by up to 90%.
