Approach

John Hemsworth Architecture Inc. is based in Vancouver on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples.

We are a Vancouver based architecture practice focused on public and community buildings, with deep experience working with Indigenous partners and in remote and coastal contexts. We are delivery minded and senior led. Our strengths are mass timber, prefabrication, and high performance buildings. We focus on buildability, sequencing, and details that reduce site risk and support predictable construction, particularly when logistics are challenging and schedules are tight.

We work best in collaborative teams where decisions are made early, responsibilities are clear, and the work is carried through to built results. Our process emphasizes listening, shared decision making, and disciplined follow through. The objective is a building that performs, is durable in real use, and can be operated and maintained over the long term.

We approach our work with Indigenous partners as a relationship first and project second. We start by listening and making space for the community's priorities to lead, then translate what we hear into decisions that can actually be built and maintained. Trust is earned over time through consistency, responsiveness, and follow through.
