New Hazelton Municipal Hall

Located in New Hazelton along Highway 16, the new District of New Hazelton Municipal Hall consolidates and expands the municipality's public services under one roof, replacing previously dispersed facilities with a unified civic presence.

Situated adjacent to a forested site, the building's design draws directly from its natural surroundings. The form is conceived as a simple, economical structure that engages the street while opening toward the treeline, creating a connection between civic life and the landscape that defines the region. The material palette and construction methodology were deliberately selected to reflect the character of the surrounding environment, while prioritizing opportunities for local trades and labour throughout the building process.

The result is a civic building that balances functionality with a strong sense of place, providing the District with modern, consolidated administrative facilities, while remaining rooted in the materials, landscape, and community that make New Hazelton distinct.
