Hemsworth Architecture is the prime consultant for the Fleetwood Park Secondary School Expansion in Surrey, BC, for School District No. 36. The four-storey addition will increase the school's capacity from 1,200 to 2,000 students in Grades 8 to 12, connected to the existing building via an enclosed two-storey link.
The addition will house a broad range of classrooms including General Instruction, Science, Arts, Music, Technology, Computer, and Foods, alongside spaces for Counselling, Special Education, and a Gymnasium. The project also includes an Indigenous Centre under the Ministry's NLC initiative. In alignment with approved government funding, the design targets a 50% reduction in GHG emissions over a LEED Gold equivalent, achieved through a high-performance building envelope and minimizing natural gas equipment. Construction is anticipated to begin in November 2026, with the addition opening for classes in January 2029.
